Romola Garai was born in Hong Kong on July 1, 1982. She was raised in Hong Kong and Singapore until the age of 8,
at which point her family returned to reside in Wiltshire, England. At the tender age of 16, Romola moved away
from her parents to live with her older sister Rosie in London. There Romola attended the City of London's School
for Girls.
She had never envisioned herself winding up an actor, always imgaining herself as a writer. Romola landed a role
in the TV movie "The Last of the Blonde Bomshells" with Judi Dench after an agent spotted her. Romola returned
to London and attended university in London. She played a role in the BBC's "Daniel Deronda," but it wasn't until
she starred in the movie "I Capture the Castle" did she decide to pursue acting formally. Romola quit school and
became a full-time actress. Since then, she has caught the public's eye, appearing in Nicholas Nickleby, and Dirty
Dancing: Havana Nights.
